"The key to defeating your Enemy's simple: Find the the road leading to their mind. Once having reached it's end, your victory's assured, and there's no escape for them. Remember: This road, and a healthy dose of Patience -- are the sole weapons no adversary may overcome."

Interests & Hobbies:

Reading great books, writing novels and screenplays, classical music, R&B, blues, Puccini operas, the great tenor arias, (especially, the epic and triumphant Nessun Dorma from the Puccini opera Turandot) watching TV, movies, (especially Japanese SF like Godzilla & Gamera), anime (especially Dragonball Z, Ronin Warriors, Starblazers, Battle of the Planets, Gundam Wing, Macross) ; really great foreign & Indie films (i.e., The Cement Garden, Yuelen & Chocolat), Hammer horror films. Classic Star Trek, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, One Step Beyond, etc. Boxing, tennis, martial arts, philosophy and intellectually stimulating & thought-provoking debate.

A Historical Perspective:

Needless to say, I've journeyed quite far afield since those ealier days when I first envisioned the Tamarlayn concept in the early 80s, and now, thank God, I've come full circle. Now, on to the dish: I intended to write the book you know as Tamarlayn as a trilogy. However, for reasons I won't go into here, I decided against that course and instead proceeded to tell his story, Destiny Waits For Me in a single book under the main title Tamarlayn. Had I opted for the trilogy, Tamarlayn's full title would've read: Tamarlayn: Destiny Waits For Me, which, as you'll notice, is the title of this web site.

As the old saying goes, "No matter where you go, there you are," and here I am, right back where I started those 23 years ago when I was a young lad of 12. The year was 1977. George Lucas' monumental epic Star Wars: A New Hope took the world by storm and revolutionized and revitalized the SF Universe. Two years later, Star Trek: The Motion Picture warped into movie theaters and, despite mixed reviews, it did well at the box office, and succeeded in recapturing my imagination and reaffirming my loyalty to the Original Series. Still, something was missing.

The year's 1980. George Lucas releases the 2nd installment of the Star Wars Trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back and all the world was new again. After seeing it at the Barron Theater in my hometown of Pratt, Kansas, later that evening, as I walked home, I thought about what I had seen, and for some strange reason, the word Tamarlayn, a corruption of Tamerlane, the Anglicized name of the great Mongol Chieftain, popped into my head and simply refused to go away.

Well, I really got a shock after going to bed later that evening. Why? I had the strangest dream of faraway places and ancient empires, where man-beasts warred with humanity for ultimate supremacy. One man I encountered in that strange and alien realm captured my imagination forever. A man named Aradames...

The rest, as they say, is history...

Current & Future Happenings:

I'm presently developing two sequels to Tamarlayn, tentatively titled Shadowlord Forever and By The Dawn's Early Light. Shadowlord Forever will complete the story arc begun in the first book. By the Dawn's Early Light will follow events occurring shortly after those chronicled in Shadowlord Forever, but will feature an entirely different storyline focusing upon a great conflict launched by an all-powerful invader which threatens to destroy the Galaxy's Great Powers.

Following that, among other varied projects I wish to pursue and fulfill in the not too distant future, is an ongoing series of sequel and prequel books based on characters and situations not only described in Tamarlayn, but from source material I've created over the years to shape the foundation of the wonderful universe I've brought into existence with the release of this book. The Tamarlayn Trilogy's hardly the end of our hero's epic exploits from long ago and far way, but merely the beginning. Tamarlayn the Great still has many adventures ahead of him, many more worlds to conquer, and a far greater number to seek out and explore. I, as his faithful biographer, will continue all the journeys begun in Tamarlayn until, to borrow a line from an ancient Katellan folktale, "The stars burn no more..."
